Spanking can be Safe and Fun!

By: Christy S

Spanking can be a totally fun way to spice up your love life. There can even be multiple reasons for one person to enjoy being spanked as well as wishing to spank someone. What is spanking? In the terms of a consensual relationship, spanking is a playful physical interaction between two, or sometimes more, people. More importantly, one person should never decide to suddenly spank another without prior consent––it's never a good surprise move!

There are people who like giving as well as receiving and it is important to be open and honest with your partner regardless of which side of the paddle you wish to be on.

Like any sexual activity, it's important to have a conversation about the details before attempting any spanking activity. If you are shy about wanting to be spanked, you might need to write down what you want to say to your partner. If it's part of larger role-play, where you want to be admonished or shamed while being spanked, be sure to let your partner know to maximize the fun. Maybe the verbal teasing is as important as the physical aspect to you. Maybe you want a light touch with lots of words. Perhaps you want a heavy, full-out blistering paddling. It's even possible you don't know what you want because you've never had a chance to be adequately spanked before. Clear communication with your partner will help you avoid frustration and maximize enjoyment.

If you want to do the spanking, talk to your partner before taking physical action. Explain what it is you would get out of spanking them. It's possible your sweet little sub has been hoping you'd offer but has been too shy to ask. However, if your partner tells you they do not want to be spanked, respect their wishes and don't push for it.

Once you both have agreed some spanking is in order, consider what kind of spanking. Hands? Paddles? The implement you choose to use can fit into whatever your role-play situation might be or whatever is on hand. However, it is important to follow a few steps along the way.

First, draw an imaginary line across the top of the buttocks and make sure you do not hit above this to avoid damage to the kidneys.
Once you know where you are going to spank, warm up each cheek by moving in a circular motion around the roundest part of flesh by gently patting with your hand or tool.
Pay close attention to your partner's responses, noting what makes them gasp, squirm, or maybe cry.
Once both cheeks are slightly pink, check in verbally with your partner. Ask them how they are doing. What are they enjoying? Are they ready for more?
Continue by adding more pressure to your spanks. Focus on the rounded part of the bottom, but occasionally add a single strike to the lower buttocks and upper thighs. Again, watch your partner closely to see how they take each swat.
Continue your exploration of spanking with frequent check-ins with your partner and modify as you go.
Enjoy!
